Stuffing Balls

Posted on December 5, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a classic, easy, Stuffing Balls recipe — perfect for holidays, potlucks, or whenever you want that crispy-outside, soft-inside stuffing flavor without making a full pan.

If you want sausage stuffing balls, cheesy ones, or an air-fryer version, just ask!

🦃 Stuffing Balls (Classic Holiday Style)

⭐ Ingredients

  • 1 package (6 oz) boxed stuffing mix (like Stove Top)

  • 1 cup hot water (or as directed on box)

  • ½ cup butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

  • 1 small onion, finely diced (optional)

  • 1–2 celery stalks, finely diced (optional)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Optional add-ins: chopped parsley, dried cranberries, cooked sausage, shredded cheese

🔥 Instructions

1. Preheat

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. Prepare the stuffing

  • In a bowl, combine stuffing mix with hot water and melted butter.

  • Stir to hydrate the bread crumbs.

3. Cook aromatics (optional but delicious)

  • In a skillet, sauté the diced onion and celery in a little butter or oil until soft.

  • Add to the stuffing mixture.

4. Add eggs

  • Once the mixture is warm—not hot—add the beaten eggs and mix well.
(Eggs help bind the balls so they don’t fall apart.)

5. Form the balls

  • Scoop and roll into balls about 2 inches in size (or any size you prefer).

  • Place evenly spaced on baking sheet.

6. Bake

  • Bake 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and slightly crisp on the outside.

🍽️ Tips & Variations

  • Sausage Stuffing Balls: Add ½–1 lb cooked, crumbled breakfast sausage to the mixture.

  • Cheesy: Mix in 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella before forming balls.

  • Crispier: Brush tops with melted butter before baking.

  • Air Fryer: Cook at 375°F for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway.

  • Make-Ahead: Form balls, refrigerate up to 24 hours, then bake fresh.

  • Freeze: Freeze after forming (before baking) and bake from frozen—add 5–7 minutes cook time.

🍗 Serving Ideas

  • Serve with gravy, cranberry sauce, or as a side to roasted chicken/turkey.

  • They also make great potluck appetizers!
