Slow Cooker Whole Chicken (Tender + Flavorful)
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (3–4 lb), giblets removed
- 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
- 1 lemon (optional), halved
- 1 small onion (optional), quartered
Instructions
- Prep the chicken
Pat the chicken completely dry (this helps flavor stick). - Season
Rub olive oil all over the chicken.
Mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and herbs.
Rub seasoning generously over the entire chicken. - Stuff (optional but recommended)
Place lemon halves and onion inside the cavity. - Set up the slow cooker
Lightly oil the slow cooker.
Place the chicken breast-side up. - Cook
- Low: 6–7 hours
- High: 3–4 hours
Chicken is done when internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C).

Transfer chicken to a baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes until skin crisps. - Rest & serve
Let rest 10 minutes before carving.
