🥐 Sausage & Cheese Crescent Ring

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

  • 1 lb (450g) ground breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
  • 2 tubes (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk (if using egg wash)

Optional add-ins:

  • ¼ cup diced green onions
  • ¼ cup diced bell peppers
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for heat)

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the sausage

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and fully cooked.
  • Drain excess grease.
  • Let cool slightly, then mix in cream cheese and shredded cheddar (plus any add-ins).

2️⃣ Assemble the ring

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Separate crescent dough into triangles.
  • Arrange triangles in a circle on the baking sheet with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points facing outward (like a sun).

3️⃣ Add filling

  • Spoon sausage mixture evenly around the ring over the wide ends.
  • Fold the pointed ends of dough over the filling and tuck underneath the center to secure.

4️⃣ Brush & Bake

  • Whisk egg with milk and brush over dough (optional for golden shine).
  • Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Let cool 5–10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with salsa, honey mustard, or gravy.

  • Breakfast Version: Add scrambled eggs to the filling.
  • Spicy Version: Use hot sausage + pepper jack cheese.
  • Pizza Style: Swap sausage for Italian sausage and add mozzarella + marinara for dipping.
