🍫 Soft & Creamy Chocolate Slice Cake

Ingredients

Chocolate Cake Layers

  • 2 eggs
  • 120 g (½ cup) sugar
  • 150 ml (⅔ cup) milk
  • 150 g (1¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 30 g (¼ cup) cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 100 ml (⅓ cup + 1 tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cream Filling

  • 200 g (¾ cup) sweetened condensed milk
  • 250 ml (1 cup) milk
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 100 g (7 tbsp) butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Glaze

  • 100 g (3½ oz) dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp milk

🧁 Instructions

1. Bake the Chocolate Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Whisk eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add milk, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Mix flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, then fold into batter.
  5. Pour into a lined or greased rectangular pan (about 9×13 inches / 23×33 cm).
  6. Bake 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool completely, then slice the cake horizontally into two layers.

2. Make the Cream Filling

  1. In a saucepan, whisk milk and cornstarch.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick like pudding.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in condensed milk.
  4. Let cool completely.
  5. Beat butter until fluffy, then mix into the cooled cream with vanilla.

3. Assemble

  1. Spread cream evenly over the bottom cake layer.
  2. Place the second cake layer on top and gently press.

4. Chocolate Glaze

  1. Melt chocolate, butter, and milk together (low heat or microwave).
  2. Spread smoothly over the top.

5. Chill & Serve

  • Refrigerate 2–3 hours before slicing
  • Cuts best when fully chilled

  • This cake tastes even better the next day
  • For extra softness, lightly brush cake layers with warm milk before filling
  • Store covered in the fridge up to 3 days
