Pasta and chow mein

Here’s a simple, tasty Pasta & Chow Mein–Style Skillet recipe—using pasta but flavored like classic chow mein 🍜🍝
(It’s great when you’re out of chow mein noodles.)


🍜 Pasta Chow Mein (Easy Skillet Version)

Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti or linguine, cooked and drained
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or sesame)
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu (optional)
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • ½ cup carrots, julienned
  • ½ cup bell peppers or onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add meat (if using) and cook until heated through.
  4. Add garlic and vegetables. Stir-fry 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and pepper.
  6. Add cooked pasta and toss well to coat.
  7. Cook 2–3 minutes more until hot and slightly caramelized.
  8. Garnish and serve hot.

🌟 Variations

  • Add scrambled egg like real chow mein
  • Make it spicy with chili garlic sauce
  • Swap soy sauce for teriyaki for a sweeter version
  • Add bean sprouts at the end for crunch
