Here’s a One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles that’s creamy, savory, and perfect for a weeknight when you want maximum comfort, minimum dishes.

One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • Salt & black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Noodles

  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 2½ cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp butter (more to taste)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan (optional but very good)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley or thyme

Optional add-ins

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup peas or mushrooms
  • Splash of cream or milk (¼ cup) for extra richness

Instructions

  1. Season & sear the chicken
    Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
    Heat oil/butter in a large deep skillet or sauté pan over medium-high.
    Sear chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. Build the pan flavor
    Lower heat to medium. Add garlic (if using) and cook 30 seconds.
    Pour in chicken broth, scraping up the browned bits.
  3. Cook the noodles
    Add egg noodles and dried herbs to the pan. Stir to submerge.
    Nestle chicken back on top. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Cover & cook
    Cover and cook 8–10 minutes, stirring noodles once or twice, until noodles are tender and chicken is cooked through.
  5. Butter it up
    Remove lid. Stir in butter, Parmesan, and cream (if using).
    Adjust salt & pepper to taste.
  6. Serve
    Finish with fresh parsley and black pepper. Cozy perfection.

  • Chicken thighs = juicier, more forgiving
  • Add lemon zest at the end if you want a tiny brightness pop 🍋
