Here’s the classic No-Peek Beef Tips recipe — tender, savory, and hands-off comfort food 🥩🍄
Perfect for busy days when you don’t want to fuss.


No-Peek Beef Tips

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup water or beef broth
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms or onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Assemble (do not stir later!)
    • Place beef in a large casserole dish.
    • Sprinkle onion soup mix and gravy mix evenly over meat.
    • Spread cream of mushroom soup on top.
    • Pour water or broth around edges.
    • Add mushrooms/onions if using.
  3. Cover tightly
    • Use foil or a tight-fitting lid.
  4. Bake — NO PEEKING
    • Bake 3 hours without opening the oven.
  5. Serve
    • Stir gently and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Why It Works

  • Low, slow heat = fork-tender beef
  • Steam stays trapped, creating rich gravy
  • Opening the lid releases moisture — resist!

Tips & Variations

  • 🥩 Use chuck for extra tenderness
  • 🍷 Add ½ cup red wine for depth (replace some broth)
  • 🧅 Add pearl onions for a classic touch
  • 🧄 Add garlic powder or thyme if desired

Slow Cooker Option

  • Assemble as above.
  • Cook Low 7–8 hours or High 4–5 hours.
  • Still don’t stir until the end.
