No-knead garlic bread recipe

Here’s an easy, amazing No-Knead Garlic Bread recipe—crusty on the outside, soft inside, and loaded with garlic butter. Minimal effort, maximum payoff!


🥖✨ No-Knead Garlic Bread

Ingredients

For the Bread

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp instant yeast (or active dry yeast)

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (room temp is fine; not hot)

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 4–6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (fresh or 1 tsp dried)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes or 2 tbsp grated Parmesan


🥣 Instructions

1. Mix the Dough (No Kneading!)

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and yeast.

  2. Add the water and stir with a spoon until a shaggy, sticky dough forms.

  3. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a lid.

  4. Let rise 8–12 hours at room temperature (overnight works great) until doubled and bubbly.


2. Shape (Lightly)

  1. Dust a counter with flour.

  2. Turn the dough out gently—do not punch down.

  3. Fold the dough edges toward the center a few times to form a rough ball.

  4. Place seam-side down on parchment paper.

  5. Let rest 30–45 minutes while the oven preheats.


3. Preheat Oven & Dutch Oven

  • Place a Dutch oven (with lid) inside your oven.

  • Preheat both to 450°F (230°C) for at least 30 minutes.


4. Bake

  1. Carefully lift the dough (on parchment) into the hot Dutch oven.

  2. Cover and bake 30 minutes.

  3. Remove lid and bake another 10–15 minutes, until golden and crisp.


5. Add the Garlic Butter

  1. Mix together melted butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley, and salt.

  2. Brush or pour over the hot loaf as soon as it comes out of the oven.

  3. For extra flavor, put the loaf back inside (no lid) for 2–3 minutes to lightly toast the garlic topping.


✨ Tips & Variations

  • Cheesy version: Top with Parmesan or mozzarella during the final toast.

  • Herby version: Add oregano, thyme, or rosemary to the butter.

  • Garlic-in-the-dough: Add 1–2 tsp garlic powder to the flour for extra garlicky bread.

  • No Dutch oven? Bake on a hot sheet pan at 450°F with a metal pan of water on the bottom rack for steam.
