No-Bake German Chocolate Pie

Posted on November 21, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a rich, easy No-Bake German Chocolate Pie (often playfully written as “Pi”) — creamy chocolate filling topped with the classic coconut-pecan frosting, all without turning on the oven.

🥥🍫 No-Bake German Chocolate Pie

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 ½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs (Oreos or chocolate graham crackers)

  • 6 tbsp melted butter

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 ¼ cups semisweet or German chocolate, chopped (or chips)

  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped to stiff peaks)

Coconut–Pecan Topping (No-Bake Version)

  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

  • ½ cup chopped pecans

  • ½ cup dulce de leche or thick caramel sauce

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • 1–2 tbsp cream or milk (just to loosen, if needed)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

⭐ 1. Make the crust

  1. Combine chocolate crumbs with melted butter.

  2. Press firmly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish.

  3. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.

⭐ 2. Make the chocolate filling

  1. Melt chocolate gently (microwave in 20-second bursts or stovetop on low).

  2. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Mix in the melted chocolate while still slightly warm.

  4. Fold in the whipped cream until fully combined and fluffy.

  5. Spread the filling evenly into the chilled crust.

  6. Refrigerate while making topping.

⭐ 3. Make the no-bake coconut–pecan topping

  1. Mix together: coconut, pecans, dulce de leche/caramel, melted butter, vanilla.

  2. Add a splash of cream only if you need it to become spreadable, not runny.

  3. Spoon or gently spread topping over the chocolate layer.

⭐ 4. Chill

  • Refrigerate at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, until firm.

Serving

Slice with a warm knife for clean cuts. Serve chilled.

Variations

  • Extra chocolatey: Add a thin layer of melted chocolate under the topping.

  • Less sweet: Use dark chocolate and reduce caramel slightly.

  • Gluten-free: Use GF chocolate cookies for the crust.

  • Individual pies: Press crust into muffin liners; chill and fill.

If you’d like, I can also make a five-ingredient version, a no-dairy version, or a “Pi Day” printable format!
