My nana taught me this hack to unclog a kitchen drain in 4 mins with 0 work. Here’s how it works

A common quick home trick to help unclog a kitchen drain uses simple ingredients you probably already have. While it may not fix very severe blockages, it can clear light grease or food buildup in just a few minutes.

⚡ 4-Minute Kitchen Drain Unclog Hack

What You Need

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 kettle of hot water

Steps

  1. Pour baking soda
Pour about ½ cup of baking soda directly down the clogged drain.
  2. Add vinegar
Slowly pour in 1 cup of white vinegar.
You’ll see fizzing—this reaction helps loosen grease and debris.
  3. Wait 3–4 minutes
Let the mixture bubble and break down buildup in the pipe.
  4. Flush with hot water
Pour a kettle of hot water down the drain to wash everything away.

Why It Works

  • Baking soda helps loosen grime and absorb odors.
  • Vinegar reacts with it to create bubbling that dislodges buildup.
  • Hot water melts grease and flushes the pipe clean.

Extra Tip 🧽

If the drain is still slow, repeat the process or add a few drops of dish soap before flushing with hot water to break up grease.

⚠️ Note: This works best for minor clogs. For severe blockages, you may still need a plunger or a plumbing snake.
