“My Mom’s Classic Holiday Fudge

Here’s a classic, no-nonsense holiday fudge recipe—the kind moms pass down and everyone asks for every December.


My Mom’s Classic Holiday Fudge 🍫

Ingredients

  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • Âľ cup unsalted butter (1½ sticks)
  • â…” cup evaporated milk
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 7 oz marshmallow crème (1 jar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans), optional

Instructions

  1. Prep first
    Line a 9Ă—13-inch pan with foil or parchment paper and lightly butter it. Set aside.
  2. Boil the base
    In a large heavy saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk.
    Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Time it
    Once boiling, continue to boil for 5 minutes, stirring nonstop so it doesn’t scorch.
  4. Melt & mix
    Remove from heat. Immediately stir in chocolate chips until fully melted and smooth.
    Add marshmallow crème and vanilla; mix until glossy.
  5. Add extras
    Stir in nuts if using.
  6. Set & slice
    Pour into prepared pan, smooth the top, and let cool completely at room temperature.
    Cut into squares once firm.

Mom-Level Tips

  • Do not stop stirring during the boil—this is the secret to perfect texture.
  • If it’s grainy, it was either under-boiled or over-stirred after adding chocolate.
  • Tastes even better the next day (if it lasts that long).

Easy Variations

  • 🎄 Peppermint: Swap vanilla for peppermint extract + crushed candy canes on top
  • 🌰 Rocky Road: Add mini marshmallows and almonds
  • 🍫 Extra rich: Use half semi-sweet, half dark chocolate chips
