🍫 Mom’s Classic Fudge

Ingredients (Makes ~2 pounds)

  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional — walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

1. Prepare Pan

  • Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Set aside.

2. Combine Sugar, Cocoa, and Milk

  • In a medium saucepan, mix sugar, cocoa, and milk over medium heat.
  • Stir constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil.

3. Boil

  • Let the mixture boil gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring often.
  • The mixture should be smooth and slightly thickened.

4. Add Butter & Vanilla

  • Remove pan from heat.
  • Stir in butter and vanilla until fully incorporated.

5. Beat Until Creamy

  • Beat fudge with a wooden spoon or hand mixer for 5–10 minutes until it becomes thicker and creamy.
  • Stir in nuts if using.

6. Pour & Set

  • Pour fudge into prepared pan.
  • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Let it cool at room temperature for 2–3 hours, or refrigerate for faster setting.

7. Slice & Serve

  • Cut into small squares and enjoy!
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.
