Maple glazed cookies

Here’s a soft, bakery-style maple glazed cookie recipe—tender on the inside with a sweet maple icing that sets beautifully on top.


🍁 Maple Glazed Cookies

Ingredients

For the cookies:

  • 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup (60ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the maple glaze:

  • 1 ½ cups (180g) powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1–2 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
  • ½ tsp maple extract (optional, for stronger flavor)

Instructions

1. Make the cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  4. Beat in egg, maple syrup, and vanilla.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined (don’t overmix).
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Centers may look slightly soft—that’s perfect.
  8. Cool on pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

2. Make the glaze

  1. Whisk powdered sugar and maple syrup.
  2. Add milk a little at a time until smooth and pourable but not watery.
  3. Stir in maple extract if using.

3. Glaze

  • Spoon or dip the tops of cooled cookies into the glaze.
  • Let sit 20–30 minutes until set.

Optional Add-Ins

  • 🍂 Chopped pecans or walnuts (½ cup folded into dough)
  • 🍁 Sprinkle flaky sea salt on glaze for sweet-salty contrast
  • 🥓 Add tiny bits of crispy bacon for a maple-bacon twist
