Here’s a bright, creamy, sweet-tart Lemon Cream Cheese Brownie Bar recipe — soft lemon brownies (no cocoa), swirled or layered with a luscious lemon cream cheese mixture. They’re like lemon blondies + cheesecake in one bar. 🍋💛


🍋🧀 Lemon Cream Cheese Brownie Bars

Ingredients

Lemon Brownie Layer

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp lemon zest

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp baking powder

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ⅓ cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Optional Glaze

  • ½–1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp lemon juice

  • Extra lemon zest


🥣 Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

Heat to 350°F (175°C).
Line an 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan with parchment.


2. Make the Lemon Brownie Batter

  1. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

  2. Add melted butter, eggs, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla.

  3. Stir until just combined — don’t overmix.

Pour most of the batter (about 2/3) into the pan.


3. Make the Cream Cheese Layer

Beat together:

  • cream cheese

  • sugar

  • egg

  • lemon juice

  • zest

  • vanilla

Mix until smooth and creamy.

Spread the cream cheese mixture gently over the lemon layer.


4. Add the Remaining Lemon Batter

Spoon the remaining lemon brownie batter over the cream cheese.
Swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect.


5. Bake

Bake 28–35 minutes, or until:

  • center is set

  • edges are lightly golden

  • no jiggle in the middle

Cool completely in the pan.


6. Optional Lemon Glaze

Stir powdered sugar + lemon juice until drizzly.
Pour over cooled bars and spread lightly.
Top with lemon zest if desired.

Chill 1 hour for clean slices.

  • Extra lemon punch: Add ½–1 tsp lemon extract.

  • Thicker cheesecake layer: Use 12 oz cream cheese instead of 8 oz.

  • White chocolate version: Add ½ cup melted white chocolate to the lemon brownie batter.

  • Blueberry swirl: Drop spoonfuls of blueberry jam on top and swirl before baking.
