Healthy Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
Dry
- 1½ cups whole wheat pastry flour (or oat flour)
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
Wet
- ½ cup maple syrup or honey
- ⅓ cup coconut oil, melted (or avocado oil)
- ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk)
- 2 eggs (or flax eggs for vegan)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt or unsweetened applesauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round pan or line with parchment.
- Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
Healthy Chocolate Frosting (Optional)
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 3–4 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- ½ tsp vanilla
Mix until smooth and spread over cooled cake.

- Vegan: Use flax eggs + maple syrup
- Lower carb: Use almond flour + sugar-free maple syrup (texture will be denser)
