Posted on December 31, 2025 by Admin

Ham and Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits are ultra-soft, fluffy biscuits that literally bake while swimming in butter—and adding ham and cheese turns them into a perfect savory breakfast or dinner side.

Ham & Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, but recommended)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1¾ cups buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar works great)
  • 1–1½ cups diced ham
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Stir in buttermilk until just combined.
  4. Fold in cheese and ham.
  5. Butter the pan: Pour melted butter into an 8×8 baking dish.
  6. Add dough: Spoon dough evenly over the butter—do not stir.
  7. Bake: 25–30 minutes, until golden brown on top.
  8. Cool slightly, then slice and serve.

Tips & Variations

  • Try Swiss or pepper jack cheese for a twist.
  • Add garlic powder or chives for extra flavor.
  • Serve with eggs, soup, or honey mustard for dipping.
