Here’s the perfect, simple Grilled Cheese recipe — buttery, crispy on the outside, and gooey on the inside. Classic comfort food!


🧀🔥 Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients (1 sandwich)

  • 2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, wheat — your choice)
  • 2–3 slices of cheese
    • Best melting cheeses: American, cheddar, Colby Jack, mozzarella, provolone, or a mix
  • 1–2 tbsp softened butter or mayonnaise

🥘 Instructions

1. Prep the bread

  • Spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  • (Mayo gives a perfectly even, golden crust!)

2. Build the sandwich

  • Heat a skillet on medium-low.
  • Place one slice of bread in the pan, butter-side down.
  • Add cheese.
  • Top with the second slice, butter-side up.

3. Cook slowly

  • Cook 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula.
  • Flip when the bottom is deeply golden and the cheese is starting to melt.
  • Continue until both sides are crispy and cheese is fully melted.

⭐ Tips for the BEST grilled cheese

Use low heat

This melts the cheese without burning the bread.

Mix cheeses

Blend cheddar + American or provolone + mozzarella for maximum meltiness.

Cover the pan

Helps trap heat and melt the cheese faster.

Add-ins (optional)

  • Tomato slices
  • Bacon
  • Caramelized onions
  • Ham or turkey
  • Spinach
  • Pickles or jalapeños

Make it extra crispy

Use a thin layer of mayo instead of butter on the outside.

Add garlic powder or minced garlic to your butter.

Cheddar, provolone, and mozzarella.
