Grandma’s Potatoes

Posted on January 29, 2026 by Admin

Ooooh, that sounds like pure comfort food already 🥔💛
Here’s a classic “Grandma’s Potatoes” recipe — simple, cozy, and the kind that disappears fast.

Grandma’s Potatoes (Old-Fashioned & Comforting)

Ingredients

  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil or bacon fat (very grandma-approved)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder or fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until just tender (not mushy). Drain well.
  2. Heat butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion and cook until soft and lightly golden.
  4. Add potatoes and spread them out in the pan.
  5. Let them sit undisturbed for a few minutes to get crispy.
  6. Flip gently and cook until golden on all sides.
  7. Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic or parsley.

Grandma Secrets 🤫

  • Don’t stir too often — crisp happens when you wait
  • A cast-iron skillet makes a big difference
  • A little bacon grease = magic

Cozy Variations

  • Creamy version: stir in a splash of milk or cream at the end
  • Cheesy: sprinkle shredded cheddar and cover to melt
  • Breakfast-style: add fried eggs on top
  • Herby: finish with dill or thyme

If you meant a specific family version (mashed, baked, cheesy, skillet, or casserole), tell me — I’ll match that grandma exactly 👵✨
