Easy Amish White bread

Here is a classic, easy, soft Amish White Bread recipe — sweet, tender, and perfect for sandwiches or toast. It’s beginner-friendly and uses simple ingredients!

🍞 Easy Amish White Bread
Ingredients (Makes 2 loaves)

2 cups warm water (110°F / warm but not hot)

⅔ cup granulated sugar

1 ½ tbsp active dry yeast (or 2 packets)

1 ½ tsp salt

¼ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)

6 cups all-purpose flour (you may need a little more or less)

Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast

In a large bowl:

Combine warm water + sugar.

Sprinkle yeast on top.
Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the Dough

Stir in salt and oil.

Add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Turn onto a floured surface and knead 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. First Rise

Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat.

Cover with a towel and let rise 1 hour, or until doubled.

4. Shape into Loaves

Punch down the dough.

Divide into 2 equal pieces.

Shape into loaves and place in two greased 9×5-inch loaf pans.

5. Second Rise

Let rise 30–40 minutes, or until the dough is about 1 inch above the pan.

6. Bake

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.

7. Finish

Brush with butter while warm for soft, shiny tops.

⭐ Tips for Perfect Amish White Bread

If dough feels sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time — don’t overdo it.

For richer flavor, replace part of the water with warm milk.

Bread freezes beautifully: wrap tightly once fully cooled.

Variations

Honey Amish Bread: swap sugar for ½ cup honey.

Cinnamon Swirl: roll dough out, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar, roll up, and place in pan.

Dinner Rolls: shape into balls and bake 15–18 minutes.
