Crumb cake and cinnamon roll

Here’s a combination of two breakfast classics: Crumb Cake and Cinnamon Rolls — I can give you a simple recipe for each so you can enjoy them separately or together for a cinnamon-swirled crumb experience! 🍰🥐


🍰 Classic Crumb Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

Crumb Topping

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, then sour cream.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; fold into wet ingredients.
  4. Pour batter into pan.
  5. Mix crumb topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter.
  6. Bake 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

🌀 Classic Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter, softened

Glaze (optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Make dough: Combine yeast, warm milk, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes. Mix with flour, salt, butter, and egg. Knead until smooth. Let rise 1 hour.
  2. Roll out dough to a rectangle. Spread butter, then sprinkle cinnamon sugar filling.
  3. Roll tightly and cut into 12 rolls.
  4. Place in greased pan, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
  5. Bake 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  6. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls.

  • Serve crumb cake with a cinnamon roll swirl for a decadent breakfast treat.
  • Perfect with coffee or hot chocolate.
