Ingredients (for 6–8 balls)

  • 3 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1–2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for coating)
  • 1–2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potato Mixture:
    • Mash the boiled potatoes until smooth.
    • Mix in onion, green chilies, coriander, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Make the Filling:
    • Take a small portion of the potato mixture and flatten it in your palm.
    • Place a small cube of cheese in the center.
    • Carefully fold the potato around the cheese and roll it into a smooth ball.
  3. Coat the Balls:
    • Roll each ball first in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry Until Crispy:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan.
    • Fry the balls on medium heat until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes).
    • Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  5. Serve Hot:
    • Serve with ketchup, mayo, or a spicy dip of your choice.

  • You can stuff them with cooked vegetables, minced meat, or herbs instead of cheese.
  • For a healthier version, bake them at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes instead of deep frying.
