Creamed chipped beef cheese ball

Here’s a Creamed Chipped Beef Cheese Ball—classic, creamy, and great with crackers 🧀✨

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 jar (2.5–3 oz) dried chipped beef, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional add-ins:
    • 1 tablespoon chopped green onion or chives
    • ½ cup shredded cheddar (for extra cheesiness)

Instructions

  1. Make the creamed chipped beef
    • Melt butter in a small pan over medium heat.
    • Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
    • Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thick.
    • Stir in chopped chipped beef, garlic powder, and pepper.
    • Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  2. Mix the cheese ball
    • In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
    • Add the cooled chipped beef mixture (and cheddar if using).
    • Mix until fully combined.
  3. Shape & chill
    • Scoop onto plastic wrap, shape into a ball.
    • Chill at least 2 hours (or overnight) until firm.
  4. Serve
    • Serve with crackers, toasted bread, or veggies.

Optional Coatings

  • Chopped parsley
  • Crushed crackers
  • Finely chopped nuts (if no allergies)

Tips

  • Too salty? Rinse the chipped beef before chopping.
  • Make ahead friendly—keeps well in the fridge for 3–4 days.
  • Want it softer for spreading? Add 1–2 tablespoons sour cream.
