Crazy Dough recipe

Posted on December 23, 2025 by Admin

Ah, Crazy Dough — also sometimes called “No-Knead Edible Play Dough” or “Fluffy Dough” depending on the recipe. 😄 It’s fun, super simple, and usually safe for kids to mix and shape (but some versions aren’t meant to be eaten raw if they have raw flour).

Here’s a reliable, quick version you can make in minutes:

Crazy Dough (Soft, No-Bake, Kid-Friendly)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar (helps it stay stretchy)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar.
  2. Add water and oil. Stir until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
    • After a few minutes, it will start to thicken and pull away from the sides.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and pliable.
  6. Divide and add food coloring if desired.

✅ Store in an airtight container — stays soft for 1–2 weeks.

Variations

  • Glitter Crazy Dough: add fine craft glitter (not edible) for sparkle play.
  • Scented: a few drops of vanilla or peppermint extract.
  • Edible Version: use cream of tartar + sugar + cornstarch + water instead, cook, and it’s safe to taste.

If you want, I can give you an ultra-easy microwave version that’s basically instant crazy dough — no stove required! That one is great if you’re short on time.

Do you want me to do that?
