🦀 Crab Cakes (Crispy & Flavorful)

Crab cakes are savory patties made with crab meat, breadcrumbs, and seasonings, then pan-fried until golden. They’re popular in places like Maryland, where the classic version uses sweet Blue Crab meat.

Ingredients (Makes ~6 cakes)

  • 1 lb crab meat (fresh or canned, drained)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Mix base: In a bowl combine egg, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Add crab: Gently fold in crab meat, breadcrumbs, and parsley (don’t overmix so the crab stays chunky).
  3. Shape: Form the mixture into small patties.
  4. Chill (optional): Refrigerate 10–15 minutes so they hold together better.
  5. Cook: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry each cake 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.

Simple Sauce (Optional)

Mix:

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • pinch paprika

Serving Ideas 🍋

Serve crab cakes with:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh salad
  • Tartar or spicy mayo
  • Fries or roasted potatoes

💡 Tip: If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
