A chocolate peanut butter cup is a classic treat: creamy (or crunchy) peanut butter wrapped in a shell of chocolate. Sweet, salty, and rich 😄
What it usually is
- Outside: Milk or dark chocolate
- Inside: Peanut butter mixed with a little sugar and fat (like butter or oil) for smoothness
Easy homemade version (no baking)
Ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark)
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 1–2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil (optional, for creaminess)
Steps
- Melt half the chocolate and spoon a thin layer into lined mini muffin cups.
- Mix peanut butter with powdered sugar (and butter/oil if using).
- Add a small scoop of peanut butter mixture on top of the chocolate.
- Melt remaining chocolate and cover the peanut butter.
- Chill until firm (about 20–30 minutes).
Variations
- Use dark chocolate for a richer taste
- Add crushed pretzels or rice cereal for crunch
- Swirl in a little honey or maple syrup for a softer filling
