Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter or oil (for greasing dish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cook the beef
In a skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease. - Prepare the sauce
In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. - Layer the casserole
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
- Add half of the cooked beef mixture.
- Pour some of the soup mixture.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
- Repeat the layers.
- Bake
Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. - Finish baking
Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and golden.
