Ingredients (makes 4–6 servings)

  • 1 loaf of French or Italian bread (or baguette)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite blend)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare garlic butter:
    • In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Slice the bread:
    • Cut the loaf in half lengthwise (or into slices if preferred).
  4. Spread butter:
    • Evenly coat the cut sides with garlic butter.
  5. Add cheese:
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella generously over the buttered bread.
  6. Bake:
    • Place bread on a baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.
    • For a golden, crispy top, broil 1–2 minutes at the end (watch closely!).
  7. Garnish & Serve:
    • Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Optional Variations

  • Add grated Parmesan for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle with red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Mix herbs like oregano or thyme into the garlic butter.
