Here’s a crispy, flavorful, and easy Cabbage Fritters recipe — perfect as a snack, side dish, or vegetarian main. They’re golden, slightly crispy outside, tender inside, and packed with flavor.


🥬 Cabbage Fritters

Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 15–20 minutes


Ingredients

  • 2 cups finely shredded cabbage (green or red)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 large egg

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour for gluten-free)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan (optional)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika or cayenne (optional for heat)

  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil for frying

  • Optional garnish: sour cream, yogurt, or fresh herbs


Instructions

1. Prepare the Cabbage

  1. Shred the cabbage finely.

  2. Place it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towel and squeeze out excess moisture (this keeps fritters crisp).


2. Make the Batter

  1. In a bowl, combine cabbage, onion, garlic, egg, flour, Parmesan (if using), salt, pepper, and paprika.

  2. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. The mixture should hold together; add a little more flour if too wet.


3. Cook the Fritters

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Scoop 2–3 tablespoons of batter and flatten slightly in the pan.

  3. Cook 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.

  4. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.


4. Serve

  • Serve hot with sour cream, yogurt, or a spicy dipping sauce.

  • Great as a side to grilled meats, soups, or as a vegetarian main.


⭐ Variations

  • Cheesy: Mix in ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella.

  • Herb-packed: Add chopped parsley, dill, or chives.

  • Spicy: Add 1 small chopped chili or a pinch of red pepper flakes.

  • Asian Style: Use soy sauce in the batter and serve with a soy-ginger dipping sauce.
