Butter Toffee Pretzels

Butter Toffee Pretzels are a sweet-and-salty snack with crunchy pretzels coated in buttery caramel toffee. They’re easy to make and perfect for parties or gifts. 🥨🍯

Ingredients

  • 8 cups mini pretzels
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped pecans or almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    Set oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare pretzels
    Place the pretzels (and nuts if using) in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Make the toffee sauce
    In a saucepan over medium heat:

    • Melt the butter.
    • Stir in the brown sugar.
    • Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add vanilla and baking soda
    Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and baking soda. The mixture will foam slightly.
  5. Coat the pretzels
    Pour the hot toffee mixture over the pretzels and toss well to coat.
  6. Bake
    Spread onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  7. Cool
    Let the pretzels cool completely—they’ll become crispy as the toffee hardens.
