Here’s a tender, savory Beef Tips recipe—comfort food classic with rich gravy, perfect over mashed potatoes or rice 🥩


Beef Tips with Gravy

Serves: 4–6


Ingredients

  • 2½ lb beef sirloin tips or stew meat
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or butter

Gravy

  • 1 medium onion, sliced or diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce (optional, depth of flavor)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp thyme or rosemary
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 3 cups beef broth

Instructions

1. Brown the Beef

  • Season beef with salt and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  • Brown beef in batches until deeply browned.
  • Remove and set aside.

2. Build the Gravy

  • In the same pan, sauté onion until soft.
  • Add garlic; cook 30 seconds.
  • Sprinkle flour over onions; stir and cook 1–2 minutes.
  • Stir in Worcestershire, soy sauce, paprika, and herbs.

3. Simmer

  • Slowly whisk in beef broth.
  • Return beef to pan.
  • Cover and simmer 1½–2 hours, until beef is fork-tender.

4. Serve

  • Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Serve hot.

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Egg noodles
  • Rice
  • Steamed vegetables or green beans

Variations

  • Crock Pot: After browning, cook on LOW 7–8 hours
  • Creamy: Stir in ½ cup sour cream or heavy cream at the end
  • Mushroom: Add sliced mushrooms with onions
  • Steakhouse style: Finish with a pat of butter
