Baked Apple Fritters

Here’s a delicious, easier, and healthier version of Baked Apple Fritters — soft, cinnamon-spiced, full of apple chunks, and finished with a sweet glaze. No frying needed!


🍎 Baked Apple Fritters

Ingredients (Makes 10–12 fritters)

For the Fritters

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled & diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work best)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (for apples)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (for apples)

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🥣 Instructions

1. Prepare apples

  • Mix diced apples with brown sugar + cinnamon.
  • Microwave 2–3 minutes or sauté in a pan until just softened.
  • Set aside to cool slightly.

2. Preheat oven

  • Preheat to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it well.

3. Mix the batter

In a bowl, whisk:

  • flour
  • sugar
  • baking powder
  • cinnamon
  • nutmeg
  • salt

In another bowl, whisk:

  • eggs
  • milk
  • melted butter
  • vanilla

Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix gently until combined.
Fold in the cooked apples.


4. Scoop fritters

  • Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter (or use a large cookie scoop) onto the baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  • Slightly flatten each mound with the back of a spoon.

5. Bake

  • Bake 12 minutes.
  • Flip fritters over, then bake another 5–8 minutes until golden and cooked through.

6. Add glaze

  • Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth.
  • Drizzle over warm fritters or dip the tops directly into the glaze.

⭐ Tips for Best Texture

  • Don’t overmix the batter—keep it thick and lumpy.
  • Use two types of apples for better flavor (sweet + tart).
  • Glaze while warm so it melts and sets beautifully.
  • For extra crisp edges, brush with melted butter halfway through baking.

🍏 Optional Variations

  • Caramel Apple Fritters: Drizzle with caramel sauce instead of glaze.
  • Apple Pie Fritters: Add ¼ cup chopped pecans.
  • Healthier: Reduce sugar or use applesauce for half the butter.
