Ohhh this is that bread — the one that makes people think you worked way harder than you did 😄
Hands down, this is the easiest and best no-knead crusty bread I know.


The Easiest No-Knead Crusty Bread 🍞✨

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp instant or active dry yeast
  • 1½ cups warm water

That’s it. No sugar. No oil. No kneading.


Instructions

  1. Mix
    In a large bowl, stir flour, salt, and yeast. Add water and mix until shaggy and sticky.
  2. Rest (the magic part)
    Cover bowl loosely with plastic wrap or a towel.
    Let sit at room temperature for 12–18 hours (overnight = perfect).
  3. Preheat oven + pot
    Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
    Place a Dutch oven (with lid) inside to heat for 30 minutes.
  4. Shape (barely)
    Turn dough onto floured surface. Fold edges over once or twice — don’t knead.
  5. Bake
    Carefully place dough into hot Dutch oven.
    Cover and bake 30 minutes.
    Remove lid and bake 10–15 minutes more until deep golden and crusty.
  6. Cool
    Let cool at least 20 minutes before slicing (steam finishes the crumb).

Why This Works

  • Long rest = flavor + airy holes
  • Covered pot traps steam = crackly crust
  • Minimal handling keeps it tender inside

Pro Tips

  • Too sticky? That’s correct.
  • Want extra crunch? Let it go darker than you think.
  • No Dutch oven? Use a covered oven-safe pot or heavy casserole with foil lid.

Easy Add-Ins

  • 🌿 Rosemary & sea salt
  • 🧄 Garlic + olive oil drizzle after baking
  • 🧀 Cheddar & jalapeño folded in before rest
