Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

These Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs come out fall-apart tender with a caramelized, finger-licking finish.


Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 2–3 lbs pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1½ cups barbecue sauce (divided)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

How to Make It

1. Prep the Ribs

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
  • Pat dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder.

2. Make the Sauce

Mix 1 cup BBQ sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire.

3. Bake Low & Slow

  • Place ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  • Brush generously with sauce.
  • Cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake 2½–3 hours, until ribs are very tender.

4. Sauce & Caramelize

  • Remove foil.
  • Brush with remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Increase oven to 425°F (220°C) or switch to broil.
  • Bake/broil 5–10 minutes, until sticky and lightly charred (watch closely).

5. Rest & Serve

Let ribs rest 5–10 minutes before cutting.


Pro Tips

  • Tightly sealed foil = juicy ribs
  • Baby backs cook faster; spare ribs may need the full time
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle ribs with dry rub the night before

Flavor Twists

  • 🍯 Honey BBQ: add 2 tbsp honey
  • 🌶 Spicy: mix in cayenne or hot sauce
  • 🍎 Apple cider BBQ: add a splash of apple juice under the foil

Perfect with coleslaw, corn on the cob, or baked beans.
