Savory Tomato Basil Tart Delight

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
    or
  • 1 prepared pie crust

Filling

  • ½ cup ricotta cheese (or cream cheese, softened)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Topping

  • 2–3 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves, chopped or torn
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: balsamic glaze for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    Preheat to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare crust
    Roll out puff pastry or pie crust.
    Score a 1-inch border around edges (don’t cut through).
    Prick center lightly with a fork.
  3. Mix filling
    Combine ricotta, Parmesan, garlic, salt, and pepper.
    Spread evenly inside the border.
  4. Assemble tart
    Layer tomato slices on top.
    Drizzle with olive oil and lightly season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bake
    Bake 30–35 minutes until crust is golden and tomatoes are soft.
  6. Finish
    Remove from oven. Sprinkle with fresh basil.
    Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.

Serving Ideas

  • Serve warm or room temperature
  • Pair with a green salad or soup
  • Perfect as an appetizer, lunch, or light dinner

  • No soggy crust: Salt tomatoes lightly and pat dry before layering
