Slow Cooker Amish Honey Glazed Carrots

Posted on November 21, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple, traditional-style Slow Cooker Amish Honey-Glazed Carrots recipe. It’s sweet, buttery, and comforting — classic Amish-inspired home cooking.

🥕 Slow Cooker Amish Honey-Glazed Carrots

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs carrots, peeled and sliced (or use baby carrots)

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted

  • ¼ cup honey

  • ¼ cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional but traditional in some Amish dishes)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional, gives a warm flavor)

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker
Lightly grease or spray the inside of your slow cooker.

  2. Add the carrots
Place sliced or baby carrots directly into the slow cooker.

  3. Make the glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together:

    • melted butter

    • honey

    • brown sugar

    • salt

    • pepper

    • cinnamon (if using)

    • vanilla (if using)

  4. Pour over carrots
Stir to coat all the carrots evenly.

  5. Cook

    • Low: 4–6 hours

    • High: 2–3 hours
Stir once halfway through if possible.

  6. Finish
Carrots should be tender and glossy. Stir again before serving so the glaze coats them beautifully.

  7. Serve
Top with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Tips & Variations

  • More glaze? Double the butter, honey, and sugar mixture for extra saucy carrots.

  • Less sweet? Reduce the brown sugar to 2 tbsp.

  • Add richness: Stir in 1–2 tbsp of heavy cream at the end.

  • Savory twist: Add ½ tsp garlic powder or a splash of apple cider vinegar.
