Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

Posted on April 1, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a fun and tasty recipe for Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings — a sweet, bubbly twist on classic apple dumplings using Mountain Dew soda for extra flavor and a caramel‑citrus kick!

🍏 Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

🛒 Ingredients (Serves about 6–8)

  • 1 can (8 oz / 240 ml) Mountain Dew
  • 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury crescent roll dough (or similar)
  • 4–5 small apples (Granny Smith, Gala, or Fuji), peeled & cored
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1–2 tsp cinnamon (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1) Preheat & Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13‑inch baking dish (a bit of butter or cooking spray).

2) Prepare the Apples

  • Peel and core the apples.
  • Cut each apple into 8 wedges (like petals).
  • In a bowl, toss the apple wedges with ½ cup sugar + cinnamon.

3) Wrap the Dumplings

  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles.
  • Place 2–3 wedges at the wide end of each triangle.
  • Sprinkle a little extra cinnamon sugar on the apples.
  • Wrap the dough around the apple, sealing edges so it looks like a dumpling. Place each seam‑side down in the baking dish.

4) Make the Soda Sauce

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  • Add the remaining ½ cup sugar, and stir until combined.
  • Carefully pour in the Mountain Dew (it may foam — that’s okay).
  • Add vanilla extract if using.
  • Simmer gently for 3‑4 minutes, stirring — don’t boil hard.

5) Bake

  • Pour the Mountain Dew sauce evenly over the dumplings in the baking dish.
  • Bake 35–40 minutes, until dumplings are golden and apples are tender.

6) Serve

  • Spoon warm dumplings and sauce onto plates.
  • Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat! 🍨

🍽️ Tips & Variations

  • Brown sugar swap: Use brown sugar instead of white sugar for a deeper caramel flavor.
  • Spices: Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for extra warmth.
  • Mini version: Use canned biscuits cut into smaller pieces to make bite‑sized dumplings.
  • Citrus zest: A bit of orange or lemon zest enhances the soda’s citrus notes.
