Garlic mashed potatoes

Here’s a classic Garlic Mashed Potatoes recipe 🥔🧄—creamy, buttery, and full of flavor.


Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2 lbs potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and cut into chunks
  • 4–5 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 4 tablespoons butter (or more to taste)
  • ½ cup milk (or cream for richer potatoes)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes and garlic
    • Place potato chunks and garlic cloves in a large pot.
    • Cover with cold water and add a pinch of salt.
    • Bring to a boil, then simmer 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are fork-tender.
  2. Drain and mash
    • Drain water from the pot.
    • Return potatoes and garlic to the pot.
  3. Add butter and milk
    • Add butter and mash potatoes until mostly smooth.
    • Gradually add milk, mashing until creamy.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve
    • Transfer to a serving bowl.
    • Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Tips & Variations

  • 🧄 Roast the garlic beforehand for a sweeter, milder flavor.
  • 🧈 Add cream cheese or sour cream for extra creaminess.
  • 🥄 Use a hand masher for rustic texture or a potato ricer for silky smooth potatoes.
  • 🌿 Add chives, thyme, or rosemary for herbal notes.
