Here’s an easy, flavorful Cheesy Baked Asparagus recipe — tender spears, melty cheese, and a golden, bubbly top.


🧀 Cheesy Baked Asparagus

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or ½ tsp garlic powder)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella (melts smoothly)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan (adds flavor + browning)

  • Optional: red pepper flakes, lemon zest, or a squeeze of lemon juice


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).

  2. Prepare asparagus: Rinse and snap off woody ends.

  3. Season: Spread spears on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and rub to coat. Sprinkle with garlic, salt, and pepper.

  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, depending on thickness.

  5. Add cheese: Remove from the oven, sprinkle evenly with mozzarella and Parmesan.

  6. Return to oven for 3–5 minutes, until cheese is melted and starting to brown.

  7. Serve: Add optional lemon zest or a squeeze of lemon to brighten the flavors.


Variations

  • Italian-style: Add Italian seasoning + use provolone instead of mozzarella.

  • Extra crispy: Mix ¼ cup panko with 1 tbsp melted butter and sprinkle on top before returning to the oven.

  • Low-carb gratin: Add ¼ cup heavy cream before baking for a richer dish.
