Here’s a delicious Amish Hamburger Steak Bake recipe 🍔🧀—hearty, cheesy, and perfect for a comforting dinner.


Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

For the Casserole

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or more to taste)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of celery for variation)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Preheat to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with chopped onions until beef is browned and onions are soft.
    • Drain excess fat.
    • Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce if using.
  3. Prepare the sauce
    • In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  4. Assemble the casserole
    • Spread cooked beef and onions evenly in the baking dish.
    • Pour the soup mixture over the beef.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
    • Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 35–40 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown and casserole is bubbly.
  6. Serve
    • Let cool for 5 minutes, then scoop and enjoy warm.

  • 🧅 Add green bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture for extra veggies.
