Cheddar drop biscuits

🧀 Cheddar Drop Biscuits (Easy & Fluffy)

These are soft, cheesy, slightly crispy on the outside—no rolling or cutting needed. Just mix and drop!


🧂 Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ cup cold butter (cubed)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¾–1 cup cold milk or buttermilk

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    Set to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking tray.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
    In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Cut in butter
    Add cold butter and rub or cut it into the flour until it looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cheese
    Stir in shredded cheddar.
  5. Add liquid
    Pour in milk or buttermilk and mix gently until just combined (don’t overmix).
  6. Drop the dough
    Scoop spoonfuls onto the baking tray (no shaping needed).
  7. Bake
    Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.

🧈 Optional Garlic Butter Topping

Mix:

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • Chopped parsley

Brush over hot biscuits right after baking.

  • Keep butter cold for fluffier biscuits
  • Don’t overmix—this keeps them soft
  • Use sharp cheddar for stronger flavor
