🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or half whole wheat)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast (optional, for fluffier bread)
  • ¾ cup warm water (or milk for softer texture)
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

Garlic topping:

  • 3–4 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • Pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the dough

  • Mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast
  • Add warm water and knead into a soft dough
  • Add oil and knead for 8–10 minutes
  • Cover and rest for 1 hour (or 20–30 min without yeast)

2. Prepare garlic butter

  • Mix garlic + melted butter + coriander + salt
  • Let sit for a few minutes (enhances flavor)

3. Shape the flatbread

  • Divide dough into balls
  • Roll into oval or round shapes

4. Cook

  • Heat a pan (tawa) on medium-high
  • Place flatbread and cook until bubbles form
  • Flip and cook the other side
  • Press lightly for even cooking

5. Finish

  • Brush immediately with garlic butter
  • Optional: sprinkle extra herbs

  • Yogurt dip or raita
  • Chicken curry or dal
  • Hummus or chutney
