🥖 Brioche Bread (Rich, Buttery & Soft)
Brioche is a classic French bread known for its tender crumb, slightly sweet flavor, and high butter and egg content.
🛒 Ingredients (1 loaf)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- ½ cup warm milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened, cut into pieces)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Activate yeast
Mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. - Mix dough
In a large bowl (or stand mixer), combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add eggs and yeast mixture. Mix until combined. - Add butter slowly
Add softened butter a few pieces at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic (dough will be soft and slightly sticky). - First rise
Cover and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled in size. - Chill (important step)
Refrigerate dough at least 2 hours (or overnight). This makes it easier to handle and improves flavor. - Shape & second rise
Shape into a loaf or rolls. Place in greased pan. Let rise again 1–2 hours. - Bake
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown. Internal temp should reach about 190°F (88°C). - Cool before slicing
