Brioche Bread

🥖 Brioche Bread (Rich, Buttery & Soft)

Brioche is a classic French bread known for its tender crumb, slightly sweet flavor, and high butter and egg content.


🛒 Ingredients (1 loaf)

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened, cut into pieces)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Activate yeast
    Mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix dough
    In a large bowl (or stand mixer), combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add eggs and yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
  3. Add butter slowly
    Add softened butter a few pieces at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic (dough will be soft and slightly sticky).
  4. First rise
    Cover and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Chill (important step)
    Refrigerate dough at least 2 hours (or overnight). This makes it easier to handle and improves flavor.
  6. Shape & second rise
    Shape into a loaf or rolls. Place in greased pan. Let rise again 1–2 hours.
  7. Bake
    Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown. Internal temp should reach about 190°F (88°C).
  8. Cool before slicing
