Here’s a simple, classic mashed potatoes recipe — quick and delicious:

Classic Mashed Potatoes

Servings: 4
Time: ~30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs (about 1 kg) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet work best)

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • ½ cup milk or cream (warm)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Pepper, to taste

  • Optional: garlic, sour cream, chives, or cream cheese

Instructions

  1. Peel & cut potatoes into evenly sized chunks.

  2. Boil in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes).

  3. Drain well to remove excess water.

  4. Mash with a potato masher or ricer.

  5. Add warm milk/cream and butter. Mix until smooth and fluffy.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Optionally mix in extras:

    • roasted garlic

    • sour cream for tang

    • cream cheese for richness

    • chives for freshness
