Here’s a warm, comforting recipe for Biscuits from the Heart 💛 — soft, fluffy, buttery biscuits made the old-fashioned way.


🧈 Biscuits from the Heart

🧂 Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ¾–1 cup cold buttermilk

1️⃣ Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.

3️⃣ Cut in Butter

  • Add cold butter cubes.
  • Use a pastry cutter or fingertips to work butter into flour until mixture looks like coarse crumbs (pea-sized pieces are perfect).

4️⃣ Add Buttermilk

  • Pour in ¾ cup buttermilk and gently stir until dough just comes together.
  • Add a little more if needed — dough should be slightly sticky but not wet.

5️⃣ Shape

  • Turn dough onto a floured surface.
  • Pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  • Fold in half and gently pat down (this creates flaky layers).
  • Repeat fold once more, then cut with a biscuit cutter.

6️⃣ Bake

  • Place biscuits close together for softer sides or spaced apart for crisp edges.
  • Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.

7️⃣ Finish

  • Brush tops with melted butter while warm.

  • Honey or jam
  • Sausage gravy
  • Fried chicken
  • Butter and a drizzle of maple syrup

💡 Tips for Extra Fluffy Biscuits

  • Keep butter and buttermilk very cold.
  • Don’t overwork the dough.
