Banana bread brownies

Love this combo 😄🍌🍫 — here’s a soft, moist Banana Bread Brownies recipe with a rich brown butter frosting option.


🍌 Banana Bread Brownies

Ingredients

For the brownies:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2–3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Optional add-ins:

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Grease or line an 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir well.
  4. Mix in mashed bananas.
  5. Add flour and salt. Stir just until combined (don’t overmix).
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
  7. Pour into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
    Cool completely before frosting or slicing.

🍯 Optional Brown Butter Frosting (Highly Recommended)

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1–2 tbsp milk

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty smelling.
  2. Remove from heat. Whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  3. Spread over slightly warm brownies.

Texture Tip

  • For cakier bars: bake closer to 25 minutes.
  • For fudgier bars: pull out around 20 minutes.
