Here’s a simple, reliable, beginner-friendly bread recipe with soft inside and a golden crust.


Classic Homemade Bread 🍞

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / warm, not hot)
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3–3½ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast
    In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix dough
    Stir in oil and salt. Add flour 1 cup at a time until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead
    Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic
    (or 5–6 minutes in a mixer).
  4. First rise
    Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Shape
    Punch down dough, shape into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Second rise
    Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes, until dough rises just above the pan.
  7. Bake
    Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes, until golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Cool
    Brush top with butter if desired. Cool before slicing (if you can wait 😄).

Bread Tips

  • Too dense? Let it rise longer.
  • Too dry? Add 1–2 tbsp more oil or butter.
  • Softer crust? Cover with a towel while cooling.

Easy Variations

  • 🧄 Garlic & herb (add Italian seasoning + garlic powder)
  • 🍯 Honey butter bread (use honey instead of sugar)
