🧀 Homemade Cheddar Cheese Rolls (Soft & Fluffy)
Ingredients (12 rolls)
- 3½ cups (440 g) all-purpose or bread flour
- 2¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
- ¼ cup (60 g) melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- Optional topping: melted butter, garlic powder, parsley
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the dough
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add warm milk, butter, and egg.
- Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead 8–10 minutes (by hand or mixer) until smooth.
2️⃣ First rise
- Place dough in a greased bowl.
- Cover and rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled.
3️⃣ Add the cheese
- Gently knead in shredded cheddar.
4️⃣ Shape
- Divide dough into 12 balls.
- Place in a greased 9×13 pan.
5️⃣ Second rise
- Cover and rise 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
6️⃣ Bake
- Heat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
- Bake 18–22 minutes, until golden.
7️⃣ Finish
- Brush with melted butter.
- Sprinkle garlic powder/parsley if using.
