Homemade Cheddar Cheese Rolls—soft, fluffy inside, golden outside, and cheesy in every bite.


🧀 Homemade Cheddar Cheese Rolls (Soft & Fluffy)

Ingredients (12 rolls)

  • 3½ cups (440 g) all-purpose or bread flour
  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
  • ¼ cup (60 g) melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Optional topping: melted butter, garlic powder, parsley

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  • Add warm milk, butter, and egg.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead 8–10 minutes (by hand or mixer) until smooth.

2️⃣ First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl.
  • Cover and rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled.

3️⃣ Add the cheese

  • Gently knead in shredded cheddar.

4️⃣ Shape

  • Divide dough into 12 balls.
  • Place in a greased 9×13 pan.

5️⃣ Second rise

  • Cover and rise 30–45 minutes, until puffy.

6️⃣ Bake

  • Heat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  • Bake 18–22 minutes, until golden.

7️⃣ Finish

  • Brush with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle garlic powder/parsley if using.

  • Sharp cheddar = big flavor
  • Add cheese after first rise to avoid greasy dough
  • Best served warm 😌
