Cheese-Stuffed Paratha
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- ½ tsp salt
- ~¾ cup warm water
- 1 tbsp oil or ghee
Filling
- 1½ cups grated cheese
- Best melt: mozzarella
- Best flavor: mix with cheddar or Amul cheese
- 1ā2 tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)
- ½ tsp crushed black pepper or green chili (to taste)
- Pinch of salt (only if cheese isnāt salty)
For cooking
- Ghee or butter
Instructions
- Make the dough
Mix flour and salt. Add water gradually and knead into a soft dough.
Knead in oil/ghee, cover, and rest 20ā30 minutes. - Prepare the filling
Mix grated cheese with cilantro, pepper/chili, and salt if needed. - Stuff the paratha
Divide dough into equal balls.
Roll one ball into a small disc.
Place a generous amount of cheese in the center.
Gather edges, seal well, and gently flatten. - Roll gently
Dust lightly with flour and roll into a 6ā7 inch circle.
(Be gentle so the cheese doesnāt break through.) - Cook
Heat a tawa or skillet on medium.
Cook paratha until bubbles appear, flip, spread ghee/butter, flip again.
Cook both sides until golden brown and crisp. - Serve hot
Best eaten straight off the pan while the cheese is stretchy š
