Here’s a classic grilled cheese sandwich—crispy, golden, and melty every time 🧀🥪

Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients (1 sandwich)

  • 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or Texas toast)
  • 2 slices cheese (American, cheddar, or a combo)
  • Butter or mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat pan
    Heat a skillet over medium-low heat.
  2. Prep bread
    Spread butter (or mayo) on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Assemble
    Place one slice butter-side down in the pan.
    Add cheese, then top with second slice butter-side up.
  4. Cook
    Cook 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
    Press lightly with a spatula.
  5. Serve hot

Tips for the Best Grilled Cheese

  • Low heat = melty cheese, no burning
  • Cover pan for 1 minute to help cheese melt
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for extra melt

Variations

  • Ultimate: Add bacon or tomato
  • Garlic: Butter mixed with garlic powder
  • Inside-out: Sprinkle cheese directly onto pan for crispy edges
  • Sweet & savory: Add a thin layer of jam or honey
