Here’s a delicious, classic Homemade Tuna Melt Sandwich on Sourdough Bread—warm, cheesy, and perfect for lunch or a cozy dinner 🥪🧀


Ingredients (serves 1–2)

  • 1 can (5–6 oz) tuna, drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1–2 slices cheddar, Swiss, or provolone cheese
  • 1 tsp butter (for grilling)
  • Optional: chopped celery, red onion, or pickles for crunch

Instructions

  1. Prepare tuna salad
    • In a small bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and any optional add-ins.
  2. Assemble the sandwich
    • Lay tuna mixture on one slice of sourdough bread.
    • Top with cheese, then cover with the second slice of bread.
  3. Grill the sandwich
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
    • Spread butter on the outside of both slices of bread.
    • Cook 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  4. Serve warm
    • Slice in half and enjoy immediately.

  • Add sliced tomato or avocado inside for extra flavor
  • Use a panini press if you have one for an extra-crispy sandwich
  • For a smoky flavor, sprinkle a little smoked paprika or use smoked cheddar
